Anthony Vetro
Anthony Vetro is President & CEO of Mitsubishi Electric Research Labs (MERL), in Cambridge, Massachusetts. His primary area of research has been on multimedia signal processing. He has published more than 200 papers and has been an active leader in video coding standardization. In his 25+ years with company, he has contributed to the strategic R&D directions of the company, led teams in a variety of emerging technology areas, and has contributed to the transfer and development of several technologies to Mitsubishi products, including digital television receivers and displays, surveillance and camera monitoring systems, automotive equipment, as well as satellite imaging systems. He currently serves on the Board of Governors as well as the Conferences Board of the IEEE Signal Processing Society. Dr. Vetro received the B.S., M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering from New York University. He received several awards for his work on transcoding and is an IEEE Fellow.
